The Illusione Epernay Le Petit (frequently designated as the Le Petite) is a brilliantly portioned boutique masterpiece engineered by industry icon Dion Giolito. First introduced in 2009 as an extension of his highly limited 2008 European release, the Epernay line famously achieved critical acclaim when it secured the No. 3 spot on Cigar Aficionado's Top 25 Cigars of the Year. Intentionally blended to evoke the fruity and sweet characteristics of fine sparkling wine, the Epernay series completely omits heavy, high-priming ligero tobacco from its recipe, focusing entirely on depth, multi-layered sweetness, and aroma.

First Third: The cigar ignites with a remarkably smooth, sweet, and comforting greeting. Gentle notes of fresh-cut cedar timber, field hay, and an intense floral honey sweetness immediately blanket the tongue. The early retrohale is completely mellow, carrying a touch of white pepper and soft baking spice.

Second Third: Moving into the main core of the slender barrel, the flavor profile enters "French pastry" territory. The smoke turns noticeably creamier and deeper, revealing dominant characteristics of roasted almonds, warm vanilla shortbread, and a delicate touch of citrus zest.

Final Third: Heat control is managed beautifully right down to the nub despite the short format. The conclusion scales up into a highly satisfying, fragrant medium presence. Sublime layers of dry oak wood, light coffee grounds, and a closing wave of warming nutmeg spice finish exceptionally long and clean.
