In 1887, at the height of the British rule, colonial soldiers began to make their own cigars from the local tobacco. The fondness of the British for these legendary Nepalese fighters inspired them to name their cigars "Gurkhas".
Steeped in legend and history, the Gurkha Cigar created more than a century ago, was reborn in 1989. The company has continuously rolled out meticulously handcrafted cigars, epitomizing all that is luxury.
Today, Gurkha makes a cigar for all price points and all palates, but when it began, Gurkha cigars were unlike other cigars in the market. They also came in highly ornate packaging and with a steep price tag. Hansotia felt that there was a market for more luxurious and exclusive cigars for those with tastes for only the finer and more elusive products. In focusing on this segment, Hansotia created the ultra premium cigar category.

The Gurkha Coleccion Especial Nicaragua Toro delivers a bold, medium-to-full-bodied smoke showcasing classic Nicaraguan power and spice. Draped in a dark, oily Mexican San Andrés wrapper, it greets the palate with a lively burst of black pepper, charred oak, and rich espresso. As the 54-ring gauge Toro burns, the intense spice transitions into a smooth, chewy profile featuring layers of dark cocoa, toasted nuts, sweet earth, and a subtle touch of leather, culminating in a satisfying, long finish with warm spice undertones.
